About the organisation
ABOUT NEWMARK PRIMARY - Making Education Meaningful
We equip our children with the emotional strength and practical know-how to contribute to and change their community for the better. So they can make a meaningful mark on today, and tomorrow.
We inspire children to be curious learners, empathetic thinkers and courageous doers through authentic learning grounded in real-life experiences. We immerse children in the world around them, showing them the problems and opportunities in it. We encourage our children to be bold - to get stuck in and make their mark - giving them the emotional strength and practical know-how to find solutions that propel positive change in their communities and beyond.
Our approach to teaching and learning equips our children to grow into well-rounded humans, to contribute to community and to know their impact. We think about the world that we live in, and the world that our children will inherit in the future. This informs the decisions we make about the issues we tackle with our children, the knowledge and skills they need, the projects they work on, and the people they meet along the way.
Our educational philosophy is informed by a range of established theories and models. These include human-centred design, social enterprise, five ways of wellbeing and growth mindset principles.

About the role
Located in Williamstown, Newmark is an independent school that is leading an evolution in Australian education. We are looking for new non-executive Board members as part of our Board expansion. If you are an experienced director with a passion for making a difference in education and the lives of children, we’d love to hear from you. We’re seeking people with board experience, who can bring expertise in:
- Legal
- Finance
- Strategy & Growth
- Property Development
- Marketing
- Fundraising
- Board Chair, Deputy Chair and Company Secretary: we will also be looking to appoint new directors to each of these positions over the next 12 months. If you have experience in any of these roles, we encourage you to express interest in joining our board.
You don’t need to know the ins and outs of education. You just need just a passion for supporting a dynamic, values-driven school that’s pioneering an education approach seeking to redefine education. This is a chance to join a rewarding governance role as we finalise our strategy to 2040 (and it’s a really exciting one!).
At Newmark Primary, we encourage our learners to be bold, curious, courageous and to question the status quo – we seek the same in our Board members too.
How to apply
